MEDICAL TRAINING AFFILIATIONS Affinity Medical Center is a teaching center for the Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine (OU-COM) CORE Program. The Hospital is also a teaching facility for A.T. Still University, Des Moines University Osteopathic Medicine Center and Kansas City University of medicine and Biosciences. Osteopathic physicians practice a holistic approach to medicine, recognizing the importance of social, emotional, spiritual, as well as physical needs of the patient. Junior and senior medical students are based here for 20 months to complete clinical training rotations. Additionally, Affinity Medical Center and OU-COM co-sponsor 47 postgraduate positions sanctioned by the American Osteopathic Association for interns and residents in emergency medicine, otolaryngology-facial plastic surgery, general surgery and orthopedic surgery.
OSTEOPATHIC MEDICAL TRAINING Affinity Medical Center is a teaching center for the Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine (OU-COM). The Hospital is also a teaching facility for A.T. Still University, Des Moines University Osteopathic Medicine Center and Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences. Each year, about 10-15 third and fourth year medical students from the above Osteopathic Medical Schools are based here for rotations. Additionally, Affinity Medical Center and OU-COM co-sponsor AOA accredited residencies in: 1. Orthopedic Surgery 2. General Surgery 3. ENT/Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery 4. Emergency Medicine 5. Traditional Rotating Internship |
