Emergency Medicine Residency Program

Brief Introduction

The Affinity Medical Center Emergency Medicine (EM) program is part of the Northeast Ohio Emergency Medicine Consortium (NOEMC) which consists of four (4) EM residency programs:

  • Affinity Medical Center; Massillon, OH
  • South Pointe Hospital (a Cleveland Clinic Hospital); Warrensville Heights, OH
  • St. John Medical Center (SJMC); Westlake, OH
  • Summa Western Reserve Hospital; Cuyahoga Falls, OH

Although we rotate mainly at our home base hospital, we rotate within each hospital to gain experience in hospital systems with differing populations, ED size and hospital capabilities. Currently, the Affinity Medical Center emergency department (ED) is a 16 bed facility designated as a Level III trauma center. The average annual ED volume is 30,000-35,000 with a 1:1 or 2:1 attending physician to resident ratio. Slated to begin soon, an expansion will increase the facility to 26 total beds. Our residents work closely with an exceptional group of attending physicians, many of which graduated from this program.

General Program Information

As part of the consortium, all ERAS applications are submitted to the South Pointe EM Residency Program. Each of the participating programs request applicants, set up their own application processes, and have unique match numbers in ERAS. As a result, please send your application through South Pointe and contact our Angela Wilkerson, Administrative Director of Medical Education, by clicking here or calling 330-834-4785. Applicants can interview with any one or all of the hospitals as we hold them separately.
