OGME 1 Details

Emergency Medicine
The resident will work 16-18 shifts, each 8-10 hours on weekdays during the month.  At least four of the days must be weekend days.  The schedule will be determined in coordination with the Emergency Department Director and Emergency Medicine residents.  The resident will spend 1 half-day in the Family Practice Clinic (FPC) per week.

Family Medicine Orientation and Family Practice Center
During this initial month at the FPC, the resident will see patients and develop a patient base at the FPC of Affinity Medical Center, a free-stranding office with seven patient rooms, a procedure room, and an OMM room.  In addition, residents will have specific time set aside each week to become familiar with different ancillary services commonly used in Family Medicine.  The goal of this exposure is to make residents aware of different ancillary services, how they complement Family Medicine, and how best to utilize them.  These include Physical Therapy, Speech Language Pathology, Home Health, Pharmacy, Durable Medical Equipment, and Practice Management.
