During PGY 2, the resident will have 16-18 shifts (12 shifts when accounting for time at the FPC), each 8-10 hours long, and two of which must be weekend days and/or evenings. The resident will spend 4 half-days at their continuity clinic. Arrangements may be made for rotation experience at an Urgent Care, to prepare for moonlighting possibilities.

Inpatient Pediatrics (Aultman Hospital)
During this month, the resident is based on the Inpatient Pediatric floor at Aultman Hospital. The resident’s hours and call schedule are determined by the rotation director. This is an out month, and so no time is spent at the FPC.
Medicine Selectives
The resident will rotate with various specialists in the area. PGY2 residents will spend 4 half-days per week at their continuity clinic, and PGY3 residents will spend 4-6 half-days per week. Medicine selectives include Inpatient Internal Medicine, Geriatrics, ICU, Neurology, Nephrology, Allergy/Immunology, Endocrinology, Dermatology, Cardiology, Hematology/Oncology, Rheumatology and Pulmonology.
OMM
This month is really a primary care month with an OMM component. Options include rotating with a local OB/GYN who is also certified in OMM; a family physician who does a lot of OMM in Wooster; or a local PM&R physician who does some OMM. Other options will be considered. Residents will spend 4-6 half-days in their continuity clinics.
Surgical Selective
The resident can choose from any of the following: General Surgery; Wound Care; Podiatry; ENT; Urology; Ophthalmology and Orthopedics. Residents will spend 4-6 half-days per week at their continuity clinic, depending on the rotation.
Family Practice
The resident can rotate with any one of several local physicians. Residents will spend 4-6 half-days per week at their continuity clinic.
Continuity Care Block
This PGY2 rotation is actually a combination of three rotations into a three-month block, allowing for continuity of care. During the three months, one day each week is spent in Mental Health/Psychiatry, one day is spent in Pain Management and/or Wound Care, one day is spent in a Surgical Selective, and 4 half-days will be spent at the continuity clinic. The resident may also make similar arrangements for a PGY3 Continuity Care Block which might include some Medicine Selectives.
Primary Care Selective
The resident can choose any of the following: Pediatrics, OB/GYN, Family Practice, Outpatient Internal Medicine, Geriatrics, Sports Medicine, Pain Management, Occupational Medicine, PM&R, Wound Care, OMM. Residents will spend 4-6 half-days per week at their continuity clinic.
Electives
Electives are provided to allow the resident to pursue personal interests and develop skills that might be lacking. Regular electives must be local, but Out Electives can be anywhere in the area or outside the area. Out Electives can be used to explore practice options or obtain rotations unavailable locally. Out Electives are, by definition, out months; if a resident chooses to stay in the area, time at the FPC can be scheduled if desired.
