Spiritual Care
|
|
At Affinity we understand that for many patients, spiritual needs are an integral part of the healing process and daily life. To help meet the spiritual needs of our patients Affinity Medical Center offers the following services:
- An inter-denominational chapel is available on the Eighth St. entrance 24-hours a day.
- If requested upon admission, the patient’s congregation is notified of their hospitalization.
- During emergency situations local clergy can be contacted to meet the needs of patients or their families.
- Prayer requests can be dropped off in any of the designated boxes throughout the hospitals, and the requests are then sent to local churches for prayer.
- Pastoral care personnel are available to assist with patients’ and employees spiritual care needs.
- The Hospital works in conjunction with an area funeral home to provide a grief support group.
- Bibles and devotional booklets are available to our patients.
- Faith tradition and healthcare guidelines are provided to assist staff on different faith traditions and to help emphasize practices that are helpful to caregivers.
To arrange a visit from their own clergy or a pastoral care volunteer, patients can ask their nurse or call the Volunteer Services Department at extension 4502. | |
