MASSILLON, OHIO - September 23, 2013 - - You've probably heard about the new affordable health insurance options that begin on October 1st. On Wednesday, October 9th at 6 p.m. and Thursday, October 10th at 12 noon, Affinity invites members of the community to learn all about these new health insurance options.
Bill Hanlon, Chief Financial Officer will discuss details surrounding the Health Insurance Marketplace. These initiatives are part of the Affordable Care Act, which requires most U.S. citizens to have health insurance beginning January 1, 2014.
A primary goal of the Affordable Care Act is to help uninsured, eligible Americans gain access to affordable healthcare. Financial help to lower costs is also available for people who qualify.
Americans will be able to find health plans on the Marketplace that cover a comprehensive set of benefits, and they cannot be denied coverage based on a pre-existing condition. Some of the health benefits include preventive care and wellness services, doctor visits, prescription drugs, hospital and emergency department care, lab services, pediatric services – and more.
While Ohio has chosen not to expand Medicaid, government subsidies to help citizens obtain coverage from the Health Insurance Marketplace are available, depending on income and other qualifications. There still are many individuals in our community who qualify for Medicaid coverage even though Ohio is not expanding Medicaid. These individuals can enroll at any time and coverage can begin immediately.
At Affinity Medical Center, we're committed not only to supporting your health needs, but also to educating and informing the people we serve. Join us Tuesday, October 15th at 12 noon and/or at 6 p.m. to learn more and get any questions answered. We'll also tell you how we can assist you in the enrollment process!
